BA DEGREE INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDIES/GLOBAL STUDIES, CSUDH
Graduated with Honors. 16 courses of which I received 11 A’s and 5 A-s. My studies focused on
community issues such as Air, Water, and Land Quality, obesity, immigration LGTBQ, poverty,
racism, the history of the U.S. regarding the expansion of the West and the impact on Native
people, and other impacts to our community.

Making the Dean’s List and graduating with Honors while working full-time and volunteering to
my SGJAA youth program was a challenge, but I had no problem succeeding. My studies focused
on general college requirements.

As a member of my community since 1984, the city that I chose to raise my family in, engaging in its success is critical. Here is a short list of those things that I’ve engaged in:
Volunteering for nearly three decades with the SGJAA as president and coach.
Vice President for the Evening Optimist Club of South Gate for two years approximately 20 years ago.
Coaching girls’ softball at SGHS for the last 5 years.
Reading to students at our local elementary schools for many years.
Speaking with students at our local elementary schools during government week.
Speaking with the students of the leadership classes of our local high schools.
Speaking with parents of local PTA’s.
Organized the Posada which now has a decade long existence.
Organized fundraisers that raise funds for the SGJAA, Relay for Life, Santa Cop, Turkey Giveaways, Back-Pack Giveaways, St. Margaret’s Food Pantry, SG Youth Commission,
Participated in graffiti removal and city clean-up events.
Participated in the Recall effort of questionable city officials.
